The purpose of this study was to examine the actor and partner effects of married couples’ psychological characteristics (e.g. self-efficacy, self-esteem, and depression), parenting stress, and positive parenting attitude by using the Actor-Partner Interdependence Model (APIM). Data of 1,565 from the 4th year of Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey were used for analyzing. Frist, couples’ psychological characteristics had a statistically meaningful actor and partner effect on both husband and wife’s parenting stress. Second, both husband and wife with more positive psychological characteristics were more likely to have a positive parenting attitude. However, it indicated that only actor effects and no partner effects were found. Third, similar to psychological characteristics, only actor effect was found in the relationships between parenting stress and parenting attitude. Fourth, indirect effects of parenting stress on the relationships between psychological characteristics and parenting attitude were significant in actor effect to both husband and wife. However, partner effect was found only from husband.
