This paper examines evolution, scopes, issues, and the tasks of the Overseas Koreans Studies outcomes in Korea during the last 60 years. It analyses the main topics for the various groups (i.e. scholars, research institutes, universities, research societies, NGOs, forums) during the four different periods(First, 1948~1965. Second, 1965~1980. Third, 1981~1997. Fourth, 1998~2008). it also considers how the research groups utilize various approaches to secure legal status, to affirm ROK‘s political legitimacy, to maintain Korean ethnic identity, and to educate Korean culture and language on Korean residents abroad. It reveals the six controversial issues in the Overseas Koreans Community, that is standardize official name, participation and opinion receptiveness, establishment of full responsibility organization, target and priority of financial support, approve voting rights for Korean national reside abroad, Dual nationality for foreign nationality Koreans. In conclusion, this paper indicates that Overseas Koreans Studies will be increasingly play a pivotal role in the decision-making of Korean government's Overseas Koreans Policy. Thus, researchers have to focus on the past-present-future trends of Overseas Koreans in the world, publish white papers annually, compile encyclopedia articles, make bibliographical introductions, and construct archives. Therefore, they will be enabled Overseas Koreans Studies to progress into a higher level.
