Evaluation is an important act in the design process to ensure that design actually goes as intended. Although the necessity is recognized, there are cases where they are ignored by various reasons or are recognized only as means of justifying the results. The current situation of design evaluation andthe definition, purpose, and elements of evaluation in other areas were examined, and the scope, function, and role of design evaluation were analyzed for related papers. Through this, the improvement direction for the extended use of the design evaluation was proposed. Evaluation of design area was found to be used for a limited purpose, object, and process in comparison with other industry. After analysis, the design evaluation was redefined, and suggested that design evaluation should be extended to advance, performance, result, comprehensive evaluation. Also, the need for an integrated evaluation proposed, and suggested the necessity of evaluation as one large production system organically linked to other production units. It is meaningful that it is possible to enhance the effectiveness in academic and practical work by proposing that the design evaluation which is the result evaluation based on the existing result is to be extensively intervened in the whole process.
