This study attempted to determine the relationships among self-esteem, satisfaction with cosmetology volunteer service-related courses, and intention to continue cosmetology volunteer services. For this, a questionnaire survey (251 copies in total) was conducted among college students from cosmetology departments in Seoul, Busan, Wonju, Gangneung and Jeonju from May 10 to June 15, 2018. The results found the following: According to factor analysis, both negative and positive factors were extracted in self-esteem. In satisfaction with cosmetology volunteer service courses and intention to continue cosmetology volunteer services, on the contrary, a single factor was derived. In terms of correlations among self-esteem, satisfaction with cosmetology volunteer service courses, and intention to continue cosmetology volunteer services after securing validity and reliability, positive self-esteem was correlated with satisfaction with cosmetology volunteer service courses and intention to continue cosmetology volunteer services. According to regression analysis, positive self-esteem showed a significant effect on satisfaction with cosmetology volunteer service courses and intention to continue cosmetology volunteer services. As satisfaction with cosmetology volunteer service courses increased, intention to continue cosmetology volunteer services was also high, showing a statistically significant influence. Therefore, it was confirmed that with higher positive self-esteem, college students majoring in cosmetology tend to be more satisfied with cosmetology volunteer service courses and show a stronger intention to continue cosmetology volunteer services. In sum, colleges need to keep developing systematic education & training programs that can help students build positive self-esteem with a goal of improving their intention to continue cosmetology volunteer services.
