This study to identify was to explore the perceptions of pre-service teachers regarding happiness and education for happiness. Data was collected from 149 college students of early childhood department in Gwang-ju and Jeonnam Province, using a 56-item inventory composed of 'life satisfaction', 'campus life satisfaction', 'positive affectivity & negative affectivity', and 'perception of happiness and education for happiness'. The data were analysed through content and statistical analysis. The study results as follows. First, there was a positive correlation between subjective happiness and satisfaction with the department. Second, pre-service teachers recognized that 'family' was the most important factor in present happiness, and 'positive mind' was the most important factor for future happiness. Whereas, 'economic power' was strong signs of unhappy, and it also was related factor in universal happiness. Third, more than half(57%) of the subjects recognized the need and possibility of education for happiness. Fourth, pre-service teachers recognized that 'teacher-child positive relationship', 'feeling positive emotions' were important in concept and contents of education for happiness, and they regard 'education as a means for happiness', or 'happiness in result of great success' as misconception of education for happiness.

본 연구는 예비유아교사들의 주관적 행복감 및 행복과 행복교육에 대한 인식을 통해 유아교육현장에서 행복교육을 실시할 수 있고, 교사 자신이 행복한 수업을 실행할 수 있는 교사교육의 방향성 수립을위한 기초자료를 제공하는 것을 연구의 목적으로 하였다. 연구대상은 광주․전남지역의 4년제 유아교육학과 학생 149명이었고, 주관적 행복감과 행복 및 행복교육 관련 인식을 포함한 설문조사(총 56문항)를실시하였다. 수집된 자료는 빈도분석, 기술통계, 상관분석 등의 통계분석과 내용분석으로 처리하였다. 연구결과, 예비유아교사들의 행복지수가 높을수록 전공만족도, 사회성, 성취지향성 등이 유의미하게 높게나타나 대학생활 만족도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 자신의 현재 행복에서 가장 중요한 요인은 ‘가족’ 이며, 미래의 행복을 위해서 가장 필요한 요인은 ‘긍정적인 마음', 현재 자신을 가장 불행하게 하는 요인은 등록금 아르바이트로 인한 부담감으로 ‘경제력’을 꼽았다. 보편적인 행복에 관련된 요인도 ‘경제력’으로 인식하고 있었다. 행복교육의 가능성에 대해서는 연구대상의 절반이상이(57%) 유아를 대상으로 한행복교육이 가능하며 필요하다고 응답하였다. 행복교육의 개념에 대한 인식 분석결과, 가장 중요한 것은‘교사-유아의 긍정적 관계’, ‘흥미, 재미 등 즐거운 정서를 느끼도록 하는 것’으로 인식하고, ‘행복의 수단으로서의 교육’이나 ‘성공에 뒤따르는 것’은 행복교육에 관한 오개념으로 인식하고 있었다. 본 연구를 통해 예비유아교사들은 행복을 가르치는 것이 가능하다고 인식하고 유아교육기관에서의 다양한 활동 및교육과정을 통해 유아들을 행복하게 할 수 있다고 인식하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 예비유아교사들의 행복교육에 대한 인식을 바탕으로 전문적이고 체계화된 지식체계로 발전시켜 올바른 행복교육을 할 수 있는 교사교육 프로그램 개발이 이루어지기를 기대한다.
