This study to identify was to explore the perceptions of pre-service teachers regarding happiness and education for happiness. Data was collected from 149 college students of early childhood department in Gwang-ju and Jeonnam Province, using a 56-item inventory composed of 'life satisfaction', 'campus life satisfaction', 'positive affectivity & negative affectivity', and 'perception of happiness and education for happiness'. The data were analysed through content and statistical analysis. The study results as follows. First, there was a positive correlation between subjective happiness and satisfaction with the department. Second, pre-service teachers recognized that 'family' was the most important factor in present happiness, and 'positive mind' was the most important factor for future happiness. Whereas, 'economic power' was strong signs of unhappy, and it also was related factor in universal happiness. Third, more than half(57%) of the subjects recognized the need and possibility of education for happiness. Fourth, pre-service teachers recognized that 'teacher-child positive relationship', 'feeling positive emotions' were important in concept and contents of education for happiness, and they regard 'education as a means for happiness', or 'happiness in result of great success' as misconception of education for happiness.
