Purpose: This study was to examine in detail the perception and meaning of the happiness for the pre-service early childhood teachers. Method: Reflection diaries and in-depth interviews were made with 121 pre-service early childhood teachers in order to examine the meaning of happiness of pre-service early childhood teachers. Descriptive statistics as well as qualitative analysis were used. Results: First, in the same case, the subjects said that the reason why they cannot catch happiness is that they pursued happiness by others without going through a process of deep reflection on what it means to be happy if they only holds the tail. And, it was said that the way to bring happiness closer is not blindly pursuing, but by putting effort into one's work with a goal and practicing it, loving each other with a grateful heart, and having a relaxed heart. Second, it is said that true happiness is to have a good relationship with the people around you and, above all, to do what you want to do and to achieve success in your work or to pursue the intrinsic value obtained from your own efforts. And, happiness can vary depending on how you think about how you can get happiness, and you can pursue valuable work, passionately do your best, feel a sense of success, and take control of your inner heart while thinking reflectively. Being considerate is the way to get happiness. Conclusions and Suggestions: Based on these findings, the necessity of an education program for enhancing happiness competency by stages that can lead to control and immersion of inner experiences by presenting interpersonal relation-related contents, future directions and goals for pre-service early childhood teachers were suggested.
