A healthcare accreditation system was introduced in South Korea in 2011. This study aimed to identify factors that influenced the reliability of the healthcare accreditation survey and system. This study used a survey questionnaire to obtain data from 228 out of 412 surveyors who were experienced in conducting the accreditation survey at acute care hospitals. Among the surveyors, 53.5% were nurses, 33.3% were doctors; 91.2% were voluntary surveyors, and 8.8% were full-time surveyors. The factors that influenced the reliability of the healthcare accreditation survey included work experience at the quality improvement department, number of surveys conducted, degree of cooperation received from the hospital, the surveyor domain, the accreditation program domain, and the accrediting agency domain. The factors influencing the reliability of the accreditation system were the appropriateness of the survey time, the accreditation program domain, and the accrediting agency domain. To ensure the reliability of healthcare accreditation, accrediting agency should strive to improve operating accreditation system expertise.
