The purpose of this study was to examine whether the ego integrity and life satisfaction in the elderly can be changed when they participate in the poetry therapy program as a social activity. To do this, 10 elderly were assigned to each group (the group participating in the poetry therapy program and the group not participating), and they were asked to respond to ego integrity and life satisfaction scales before and after the program participation respectively. As a result, the elderly who participated in the poetry therapy program showed better ego integrity and life satisfaction than the elderly who did not participate. These results suggest that the participation of the poetry therapy program could change the elderly ego integrity and life satisfaction in the positive direction. In addition, this suggests that the poetry therapy program could be used as a lifelong education program among the social activities which induced positive changes in the life of the elderly, and lead to positive perceptions and thinking activities of the elderly.
