Abstract : In this study, the purpose of this study is to investigate the mediating effects of self-encouragementand academic self-efficacy in the relationship between parent-child communication(open communication,problem communication) and career aspiration. The main finding of this study ware summarized as follows. First,there was a significant correlation between parent-child communication(open communication, problemcommunication), career aspiration, self-encouragement and academic self-efficacy. Open communication, careeraspiration, self-encouragement, and academic self-efficacy were positively correlated. On the other hand,problem communication showed a negative correlation. Second, to verify the significance of the mediatingeffects of self-encouragement and academic self-efficacy in parent-child communication, career aspiration,self-encouragement and academic self-efficacy, structural equation modelling was conducted. The results showedthat the model was appropriate for the data. In addition, it is shown that the research model is moreappropriate than the competition model that does not set the path of mediating variable. Moreover, afterremoving the insignificant path of the model, the model is shown to be more appropriate than the originalresearch model. The implications and limitations of this study, and the direction for the future research werediscussed.
