The purpose of this paper is to investigate how Ezra Pound accepts, idolizes, and represents the ethos of ‘precision’ in his poetry and prose. Pound scholars usually focus on his early poetry of Imagism and Ideogram because they could avoid his dark politics. In order to examine his poetic awareness on precision, however, we need to read his realm of dark confusion which spans from 1908 to 1945. For this, I use the pursuit of ‘precision’ as a guiding idea to read Pound as a poet. My contention is that the vision of precision led Pound to misread the poetics of fascism and anti-semitism as a poetic tool to cleanse a poetry of emotional slither or excess in writing.
