The purpose of the study is to discover the practices of teaching musical concepts by kindergarten teachers and their accompanied difficulties. The study focused on 13 teachers who taught 4 to 5-year-old children at public and private kindergartens located in Seoul and the Gyeonggi area. Each participant went through a semi-structured interview. The results of this study are as follows. The teachers were implementing activities about musical concepts through daily routines and group activities. On the other hand, they were also transferring misconceptions to children by using wrong musical concepts during their implementation or provided biased education by concentrating on only one or two music activities. The difficulties in implementing activities with musical concepts have come from the teachers’perceptions that the value of music activities is to simply have fun, their unstructured perception towards music education contents, and their low responsibility for music education. In addition, another difficulty in implementing music activities stemmed from the teachers' lack of confidence and low efficacy of the teachers towards music education, as well as their difficulties in connecting musical concepts to music activities.
