Kang You-wei(1858-1927) thought that the Chinese society was just like an abattoir and a prison in the early modern times. And he planned the utopian society named "Da-tong" to save Chinese people got into semi-colonial and semi-feudalistic situation by the invasion of the western states. His Da-tong thinking was influenced by both the eastern and the western ideas, especially Confucius's Da-tong theory, the view of Gong-yang San-shi(公羊三世說), Ren(仁) thoughts, the western theory of natural rights, and the utopian socialism, etc. His utopian socialism combined with Confucian philosophy is a cornerstone to help Chinese Socialism settled and developed. Many utopian socialist movements failed in modern China, but Kang's Da-tong thinking has achieved some result. It provided the modern Chinese to accept the Socialism considered as a heterogeneous ideology, and has been of great service to the modernization and globalization of Chinese Socialism.
