The purpose of this study is to investigate the main factors that impact the acceptance level of gender impact assessment using the sample of government officials working at autonomous districts in Seoul. The 4 models of the regression analysis showed that 4 independent variables such as "validity of the assessment index", "gender egalitarianism", "system related roles", and "experience working with gender sensitivity policies" were positively associated with the acceptance.
The results of the study can be summarized into four major parts. First, in general, city officials have positive perception and attitude toward gender impact assessment while female officials have slightly higher acceptance level than male officials. Second, those who have worked at the women’s divisions have a better understanding of gender egalitarianism and gender sensitivity compared to these who do not. Third, the result of the regression analysis showed that validity of assessment index, gender egalitarianism and exposure to gender sensitivity policies have positive impacts on the acceptance level of gender impact assessment. It is also confirmed that gender egalitarianism and gender sensitivity are moderated by exposure to assessment implementation to increase the level of acceptance of the gender impact assessment. Policy implications are also discussed in the paper as a conclusion.
