The purpose of this study was to examine the lives of early teens suffering from maladjustment in school life. So as to estimate the impacts of leisure participation activities on the adaptation of school life for the early youths’. It analyzed whether self-respect and satisfaction level of life have a mediation effect in the path of leisure participation activity in adapting school life . Using 2,351 middle school students out of the first survey data in the Korean Children and Youth Panel were analyzed applying a structure-style model. The results of the study are as follows: First, leisure participation activities had a positive effect on the school life adaptation . Second, the self-esteem had a positive effect on the life satisfaction. The self-esteem in the leisure participation activity and the school life adaptation have interrelationships of an impact. Third, The self-esteem have an influence positively on the peer group relationships under the school life adaptation as a subfactor, yet having an influence negatively on the school regulations and the relationship with teachers. Forth, The life satisfaction have a partial influence positively on the relationship with teachers as a subfactor. Fifth, testing of the mediation effects, the self-esteem have a partial influence positively on the only peer group relationships under the school life adaptation as a subfact, yet the life satisfaction have a partial influence positively on the peer group relationships, the learning activities, the relationship with teachers. Implications present the directions to develop programs and institutions for early teens" leisure participation activities and adapting school life.
