This paper mainly studies the sentence pattern of “V₁+Gei+NP<SUB>与</SUB>+V₂” in modern Chinese. Firstly, The author agrees that the sentence pattern can be classified into three types. Namely, “(A)唱给你听” “(B)炒给你吃” and “(C)送给你玩”. Next, using the relevant theories of cognitive pragmatics, it is interpreted through the event frame and the distribution of attention, the methods of summary scanning and sequential scanning, the principle of quantity and the conformity of gestalt. The prominent function of focus, the differentiation function of ambiguity and the precise function of sentence expressions are also investigated.
