The purpose of this study is to measure and analyze the relative efficiency and productivity of colleges that conducted the 2018 University Basic Competency Diagnosis using DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis) method. In this study, to analyze the productivity change, the DEA model was used to measure the efficiency differences according to the college’s background variables and the efficiency according to the evaluation of University Basic Competency Diagnosis. Data for this study were collected from 2016 to 2018 through the academyinfo site operated by the Center of University Information Disclosure. In order to analyze the relative efficiency of colleges, teaching facilities ensuring rate, scholarship per enrolled student, educational cost per student and proportion of full-time teaching staff indicators were selected as the input variables, and freshmen competition rate, enrolled student recruitment rate and graduate employment rate as the output variables. As a result of analyzing the mean difference of efficiency for background variables through nonparametric test, the mean difference of efficiency according to type and location of colleges show statistically significant difference. The mean difference of efficiency according to the period, establishment and University Basic Competency Diagnosis did not show statistically significant results. As a result of analyzing the productivity change of colleges through Malmquist productivity analysis, the results according to establishment part was shown statistically significant in the TCI(Technical Change Index) and MPI(Malmquist Productivity Index). And the results by school type were found statistically significant in the TCI. And in analyzing college productivity variables according to University Basic Competency Diagnosis has statistically significant results in the TCI. The results of this study suggest that appropriate support from businesses and government should be supported, along with active innovation efforts that take into account the characteristics and evaluations of colleges to improve their efficiency.
