The purpose of this study is to examine the world of Donghak peasant revolution, literally illuminated and reproduced by artists in Sangju. The Donghak peasant army in Sangju occupied Sangju-castle, but soon afterwards, they were defeated and executed by Japanese, officials and suppressors. The artists use Donghak peasant army as the main characters and call for their name and their existence to find historical significance. Although the ruling class could not focus on the people’s revolution that was perceived from below, the modernity was opened by people’s power. In literary works, the Donghak peasant soldiers are reborn as main characters who reveal the modernity of Joseon. The contents of this study are as follows: First, the fall of Sangju-castle and the literary meaning of the process. Find out the will of the farmers who broke the vested interests and the ruling class, and analyze in detail the cruel and resolute punishment of the perceived farmers. Second, the Donghak peasant revolution reveals the process by which farmers become subjects of history. In front of the suppression of the officials and Japanese troops, the peasant soldiers accept their death and become subjective. Third, although the character is different from the Donghak peasant revolution, it analyzes the significance of the Donghak church of Euncheok as the object of faith. The story of those who served and served Donghak with faithful faith reveals mysterious communication and communion with heaven. As a result of this study, first, we could confirm the meaning of solidarity of Donghak peasants who were aware of subjectivity. Farmers who are out of order to corrupt vested interests are united and realize that they can change the world with their united power. Second, discovering the new world is the responsibility of those who aspire to the new world, and most farmers are willing to die. By justifying his death, farmers and slaves were able to escape the slave life. Third, anyone could arrange the story of man’s sublimation of the spirit of the dynamics of heaven into religion by serving Hanul(天)in his body.
