Due to the aging of society, the elderly population is rapidly increasing at a very high rate of the total population. The active senior generation accounts for a large portion of the elderly population, referring to those in their 50s and 60s who enjoy consumption and leisure life even after retirement and actively participate in social activities. They are emerging as a new consumer class based on brisk economic activities, so various content industries are paying attention to the growing potential of the digital content market for active senior. Recently, a fairy tale book dedicated to the elderly was introduced in Korea, which helps boost memory factors through reminiscence. It worked hard to produce content by applying design elements such as type size and choice of works of Korean literature familiar to older people. However, content is being developed without a preference survey for active senior. Thus, a total of 36 users were tested for drawing style preference to ensure that the provided content was using appropriate drawing style. As a result, simple shapes were most preferred, with concise, distinct color contrast and refined refinement. It is a result that is different from the expectation of choosing traditional and familiar hand drawing style or realistic depiction drawing style. This concludes that active senior prefers visually distinct and contrasting drawing style to traditional and familiar ones.

사회의 고령화로 인해 고령 인구는 전체 인구 중 매우 높은 비율로 급격히 늘어나고 있다. 액티브시니어 세대는 퇴직 이후에도 소비생활과 여가생활을 즐기며 사회활동에도 적극적으로 참여하는 50∼60대를 지칭하며 고령 인구의 큰 비중을 차지하고 있다. 이들은 활발한 경제활동을 바탕으로 새로운 소비계층으로 부상하고 있기 때문에 다양한 콘텐츠 산업체들이 액티브시니어를 위한 디지털 콘텐츠 시장의 성장 가능성과 잠재력에 주목하고 있다. 또한 액티브시니어들도 디지털 콘텐츠를 즐기기 위해서 국가 교육기관을 비롯한 다양한 경로를 통해 디지털 디바이스 활용방법을 습득하고자 노력하는 추세이다. 디지털 콘텐츠는 정보 습득을 하기 쉬운 그림, 사진, 영상 등의 형태로 구성되어 있다. 노년층을 위한 디지털 콘텐츠는 그들의 생체적 · 인지적 · 정서적 특징에 맞게 텍스트, 레이아웃, 컬러 등 디자인요소들을 사용한다. 하지만 그림의 경우, 정보전달을 위해 활발히 사용됨에도 불구하고 그림체 스타일에 관한 연구는 미비한 실정이다. 예를 들어 최근에는 회상작용을 통해 기억인자를 활성화시키는 데 도움을 주는 노년층 전용 동화책이 국내에서 출시되었다. 활자크기, 노년층에게 익숙한 한국문학 작품 선택 등 디자인요소들을 적용하여 콘텐츠 제작에 공을 들였다. 하지만 그림체에 있어서는 사실적 묘사 그림체 한 가지로 제작되었다. 한편, 선행연구에 따르면 노년층의 인지적 · 정서적 특징에 따라 이전에 습득한 친숙한 이미지를 선호하는 경향이 있고 명도와 채도의 대비가 뚜렷하여야 효과적으로 전달할 수 있다고 하였다. 과연 현재의 노년층 전용 콘텐츠가 적절한 그림체를 제공하고 있는지, 앞으로 어떠한 그림체를 반영한 콘텐츠를 제공해야 할지 의문이 제기된다. 본 연구는 디지털 디바이스를 통해 접하는 콘텐츠에서 액티브시니어 세대의 니즈에 충족할 수 있는 그림체를 밝혀내는 것을 목표로 한다.
