In Jung-gu, the downtown area of Daegu, residential construction have been actively progressed due to the recent urban redevelopment project, and it seems that the area is entering a stage of ‘gentrification’, which is similar to the fourth stage - reurbanization - of the urban development model by Berg. This study, therefore, was conducted to examine the stage of the urban development resulting from gentrification.
As a research method, housing statistical yearbook published by Daegu was used to identify the urban development stage by the number of housing construction units. This was due to the limit to investigate the urban development stage by population indicators, as the characteristics of the urban population are more floating than the resident population. Second, with a geocoding program that converts the address of an apartment complex into coordinates, process of changes in the location distribution of the number of houses built and the number of complexes by year. was analyzed.
As a result of the study, the process of land use change in Jung-gu, shows three stages of development: urban development, stagnation, and gentrification. Therefore, in Jung-gu, which has entered the stage of gentrification, it is expected that revitalization such as designation of maintenance zones will be promoted rapidly, centering on detached housing sites, and the installation of infrastructure facilities is required in preparation for this.
