The purpose of this study is to derive implications by analyzing cases of shared housing in Jeonju and Wanju and the needs of residents to support youth housing by local governments. The research methods are based on literature review; a field visit survey in three cases of shard housing in Jeonju and Wanju; and a 1:1 interview survey of 34 youth in the forementioned housing. The results are summarized as follows: 1) In order to provide support for youth shared housing in the region, the organization and person in charge of the legal support system ordinance and administrative support system must be established in advance. 2) It was confirmed that the local government’s support for shared housing contributes to the stability of young people’s housing with low rent and management costs. 3) For the private bedroom of a shared house, young people prefer a single bathroom and toilet. The individual bedroom has a bed, wardrobe, dining table and chair, air conditioner, and internet access. As a common space, there was a demand for space for communication among young people that is equipped with kitchen furniture including a table and chairs. 4) To manage the community and daily life rules of tenants of the shared housing, the youth can live under a self-governing life management policy with monitoring by a housing coordinator in the local government. 5) As it was confirmed that youth shared housing will be expanded to local cities and rural areas, the settlement of youth and housing issues should be publicly discussed in consideration of local condition, and shared housing can be an alternative.
