In this study, gender characteristics of gaze movements were analyzed in the process of judging a system status through information on the HMI (Human-Machine Interface) screen. Gaze entropy was used as a method to analyze gaze movement in the process of situation awareness. LOCA(Loss of Coolant Accident), SGTR(Steam Generator Tube Rupture), SLB(Steam Line Break), and LOV(Loss of Voltage) which are the accident situation of a nuclear power plant were used as task scenarios for the experiment. Subjects judged the accident situation by looking at the six indicators displayed on the HMI screen showing the accident situation. A total of 20 college students (10 males and 10 females) with no experience in operating a nuclear power plant participated as subjects. In order to measure the gaze data, the subjects performed an experiment while wearing an eye tracker. For all tasks, Shannon entropy did not show a significant difference between men and women, but Markov entropy showed a significant difference between men and women, and it was found that women’s Markov entropy was higher. In conclusion, there was no significant difference between men and women in the ratio of viewing the necessary information elements for situation awareness, but it was found that women had more gaze movements between necessary information elements than men.
