COVID-19 virus is changing people's lifestyles as it affects the society and economy of the Republic of Korea in 2020.The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of COVID-19 pandemics on people's vacations. In particular, the study focuses on the peak summer season, when crowding is at its highest, the crowding perception affects travelers' behavioral intentions to the COVID-19 risk perception and suggests managerial implications for resort companies. Hierarchical regression analysis shows the human crowding affects the behavioral intentions of internal avoidance. It was also shown that higher the spatial crowding, the stronger the behavioral intentions of external avoidance. On the other hand, examining and moderating the effects of COVID-19 have shown solitary behaviors. Spatial crowding and social distancing have innately increased external avoidance and increased the perceived risk of COVID-19. This will eventually create stronger behaviors that induce external evasion. In addition, spatial congestion continues to cause neglecting behavior of the potency of COVID-19. The degree of neglecting behavior appears weaker in people who perceive COVID-19 to be a low threat. Managerial implications are discussed and future research directions are also presented.
