In this study, after developing and applying a molecular biology inquiry program using the ABO blood type gene, the effect of the inquiry program on the concept achievement related to molecular biology and genetics and scientific attitudes of students was investigated. Twenty 2nd grade students attending a general high school in Gyeonggi-do participated in the research. Each of them was divided into an experimental group and a control group, and the developed inquiry program was put into the experimental group, and an explanatory class composed of the same contents was put into the control group. Before and after class input, a concept achievement test and a scientific attitude test were conducted, the results of the tests were compared between two groups, and an interview was conducted with the students in the experimental group on the effectiveness of the class. As a result of the research, a 6-hour molecular biology inquiry program was developed that can be easily applied in school. As a result of applying the inquiry program to the students, both concept achievement and scientific attitude showed higher improvement in the mean score of the post-test compared to the pre-test in the experimental group than in the control group, and the score difference was statistically significant. In addition, the positive effect was confirmed in the interview on the effectiveness of the class. On the other hand, among the sub-areas of concept achievement and scientific attitude, the areas that did not show any significant effects were analyzed in depth. Finally, the educational implications of this and the necessity of follow-up studies were discussed.
