Peaches and pears inherited by the influence of Chinese culture were not as much as recognized in the Heian Dynasty literature, rather they were cold-felt and shown low significance compared to their presence in the Chinese literature. Peaches were mainly symbolized as spells, and pears were entwined with its problems with the pronunciation, and their flowers themselves were treated as lacking in appeal. Within these trends, songs targeting flowers of peaches and pears that are not so much recited in the general Waka world are recorded in MurasakiShikibuShū(Murasaki Shikibu Waka Collection). Murasaki Shikibu emphasizes on the beauty of the flower and, through it, talks about a loving husband-and-wife relationship between her husband, Nobutaka. She was able to recite these songs for the following reasons. In addition to the knowledge of Chinese poetry used to express the beauty of peaches and pears to represent its utmost beauty, it is the result of making use of the world tradition of waka that emphasizes the nature of falling flowers. Through the series of songs, Murasaki Shikibu tried to discover new beauty in the peach and pear flowers, which seems to be the most valuable point.
