In this study, in order to understand the military clothing and culture of the Joseon Dynasty, the use, the structure, and the name of each part of the commander"s baton were arranged, and the materials and making methods of the artifacts were analyzed and compared with the deungchae shown in paintings. The use of the deungchae is divided into ceremonial items for military attire, horse whips in real life, commanding military music bands, and performance props for royal court dancing costume. From the outside, the wearer"s gender and status are different and the wearing conditions are completely different, but if you look deeply, except for the original purpose of the whip, all of them have a common element: military attire. Deungchae of Seonyurak Jeongjae painted on Uigwe is almost identical to the structure of the deungchae remains. Deungchae consists of a wooden main body, a handle, a strap to hang on the wrist, a towel to wipe the deungchae, a tassel decoration, and a knot decoration. Accordingly, the materials and making methods were analyzed 18 deungchae collections of domestic and foreign museums. In the court documentary Paintings of the late Joseon Dynasty, it is confirmed that all figures wearing military uniforms such as yungbok(戎服), gunbok(軍服), and armor are holding their deungchaes. Changes in the structure of the deungchae can be seen in the portraits of military uniforms as well. It is hoped that this study will reveal the artifacts in museums across the country. Also, when recreating the deungchae, I hope that it will be made correctly based on the artifact.
