According to the National Statistical Office, the domestic donation rate is decreasing every year in the period of 2011-2017. In particular, donation ratio of youths between 13 ~ 19 has decreased by 20.2%, which is the biggest reduction rate in all subjects. It is because of the lack of awareness of donation by young people and their passive valuation on the social participation. It is urgent to find more practical alternatives and methodologies to encourage donation culture and sustainable donation activities of youths. Accordingly, this study tries to improve the problems of existing donation culture, overcome the limitations on the social participation of the youths and design a more practical and concrete project. Therefore, in this study, design research of donation purpose design project was carried out utilizing the online based crowed funding which is attracting attention as a donation platform.
First of all, theoretical review on the crowd funding and youth donation culture was performed. Crowd funding cases in the field of design and art for the purpose of donation in recent 5 years were reviewed and expert opinions were collected for the objective verification. Based on the results of objectivity verification, types and attributes of donation crowd funding were classified according to the characteristics of user. They were utilized to propose a design model of donation design project through case studies.
It is hoped that this study can be utilized as a base study for the development of various project tools and contents to increase active participation of youths in social problems and to improve basic perception. Furthermore, it is also hoped that it can be widely used as a fusion design education material.
