Migration leads the world into the multicultural era. In Korea, efforts have been made to find solutions for harmony, coexistence and conflicts among citizens from different culture. Though the nations" multicultural policy had focused on the government-led social diverse social groups and culture. In the context, museum can become the best place to integrate multicultural values. First, the introduction of new museology has changed the paradigm of museum from exhibition to visitor. The biggest issues for museum operation are how museum will deliver its program to visitors and how they will receive them. To tackle the issue, psychology and pedagogy have combined with museum education theories. Second, museum is a place of political intention and purpose. In the multicultural era, social cohesion is achieved when various cultures can exist horizontally and harmoniously regardless of race, religion and region. In this regard, museum can become the optimal education space where different agendas get together. Museum is a place where people can go beyond the horizontal boundary of nation and group and the vertical boundary of time. For social cohesion, museum should fulfill its educational role. Rather than focusing on individual museum"s program, we should redefine the role of overall museum education by providing more integrated organization and support. Museum can provide a place for mutual understanding and sympathy on various culture while considering any isolated cultural identity. Museum education is necessary to get out of narrow sense of educational programs and to respond to the change and needs of the time.
