Recently, as the cultural specificity of each region gradually decreases, local cultural contents implemented based on it are receiving a lot of attention. In such a situation, this study is an attempt to establish a research method of local cultural contents, which is a sub-field of cultural contents, and specifically considered the value and meaning of field research from a qualitative research point of view. Along with the analysis of literature data, four field-centered qualitative researchers were selected as participants, and data were collected and analyzed through in-depth interviews.
As a result of the study, the value and significance of the field research method in the study of local cultural contents were analyzed in three ways. First, field research is a process of understanding the social and cultural field characteristics of the region, and through this, local cultural contents based on the specificity of the region can be implemented. Second, field research in local cultural contents has value and meaning as a process of capturing the culture of the region as if it were ‘Holistic’ by reflecting on the whole. Third, in field research, it is possible to seek the possibility of ‘healing’ interaction between researchers and local residents. Therefore, this study discussed the importance of field research in the field of local cultural contents and that the contents implemented through this can maintain sustainability and settle successfully.
