One of the choices for living independently without relying on children in the old age is moving into residential aged care. However, the problem of industrial atmosphere, and the limitations of the hospitality model issues were constantly raised. Culture change is essential for the quality of life of the elderly. The purpose of this study is to investigate the demand and desire of the culture change in aged care homes of the baby boomers living in the metropolitan area and the six major cities. The research method was consist of literature review, and an online panel survey on 703 baby boomers (born in 1955-1963) living in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, and six major cities, from August 23 to 25, 2021. The contents of the survey were recognition and demand related to the ten principles of Eden Alternative, a representative cultural change model. Frequency, crosstab, multiple response, and anova were performed using SPSS v.25. As a result, the evaluation of the life satisfaction of elderly care facilities in Korea was still low, and the atmosphere was considered to be a facility-like rather than home-like. There was a high demand for cultural change, most agreed with the ten principles of Eden Alternative. Although most agreed descriptions on Eden Alternative human habitat model, relatively negative responses were related to residing with pets such as cats and dogs. Living with their own pets or not has affected the answer. Region had little relationship with the result. In conclusion, the baby boomers in Korea"s metropolitan area and six major cities hoped for cultural changes in Korea"s elderly care facilities, and research on models suitable for Korea is needed for the future.
