Purpose : This study was aimed to suggest substantializing language therapy services and activation plans according to the needs of the disabled children’s parents, upon investigation and analysis of their satisfaction level and needs on the language therapy services and highlighting more objective and practical problems when using the facilities of language therapy services for the disabled children so as to seek the improvement areas. Methods : The study subjects were 100 parents of disabled children who were undergoing language therapy in South Gyeongsang Province including Changwon and Jinju. The questionnaires were distributed to them and 77 copies were collected from them to be analyzed as follows. Results : First, the parents of disabled children rated the qualification or specialty of the therapists as the most important one for the selection criteria of language therapy institution followed by prioritizing the treatment programs. Second, in terms of therapy types and frequency of uses, they preferred to the individual therapy with twice weekly the most, and their favorite programs were in the order of language therapy, cognition therapy, and learning therapy. Third, the parents showed high level of awareness and satisfaction on the communication with language therapists, program details, and treatment methods. Also, they answered that many of children used additional institutions beside the currently using language therapy institution. Conclusions : To propose the improvement points based on these results, it is necessary to develop a variety of education programs according to the types or levels of disabilities. Also, expansions of governmental policies are required to lower the family burdens with stable economic support.
