Due to their geographical proximity, human and material exchanges have been very frequent since ancient times. As a result, many traces of mutual exchange remain throughout the two countries. Zhuzi Shrine(朱子庙), located in Hwasun-gun(和顺郡), Jeollanam-do(全罗南道), is a relic created during such exchanges between Korea and China. As part of a study on the cultural and industrial use of historical relics formed in the process of Korea-China exchange, this paper sought ways to revitalize the cultural industry of Zhuzi Shrine through the development of tourism resources related to Zhuzi in China.
To this end, Chapter 2 of this paper introduced the development situation of tourism resources such as the ‘Zhuzi Cultural Center(朱子文化园)’ located in Youxi(尤溪), Sanming City(三明市), Fujian Province(福建省); the ‘Wuyi Mountain Zhuxi Memorial Hall(武夷山朱熹纪念馆)’ in Wuyi Mountain, Nanping City(南平市), Fujian Province; The ‘Shangrao Zhuxi Memorial Hall(上饶朱熹纪念馆)’ in Wuyuan(婺源), Shangrao City(上饶市), Jiangxi Province(江西省), where the Zhuzi’s old house is located; ‘Lushan Zhuzi Shrine(庐山朱子祠)’ in Lushan, Jiujiang City(九江市), Jiangxi Province(江西省); ‘Changbing Shrine(长柄朱子祠)’ located in Changbing Village, Fuzhou City(福州市), Fujian Province; ‘Danyang Zhuzi Shrine(丹陽朱子祠)’ located in Danyang Street, Fuzhou City(福州市), Fujian Province etc. Chapter 3 then examined cultural industries such as Activities to commemorate the 888th anniversary of Zhuzi’s birth in Nanping City, Fujian Province.; the ‘Zhuxi festival’ in youxi, Sanming City, Fujian Province; Construction of Zhuxi Cultural Brand in Fujian Province, etc. Finally, in the conclusion of Chapter 4, the implications that can be obtained from the development of tourism resources related to Zhuzi in China and the use of the cultural industry in order to revitalize the cultural industry of Zhuzi Shrine were presented.
It is hoped that this article will serve as a foundation for constructive discussions on the development of tourism resources and revitalization of the cultural industry of cultural heritage formed in the process of exchanges between Korea and China in the future.
