이 글은 강안 지역의 학문적 동향을 정리하려는 대주제 속에서 역사학의 동향을 살펴보려는 데에 연구 목적이 있다. 북쪽의 상주에서 남쪽의 의령 지역에서 나온 사부 편찬물을 지역별로 정리하여 그 편찬 양상을 정리함으로써 낙동강 강안 지역 역사학의 특징을 도출해 보았다.
낙동강 강안 지역의 역사학 분야에서 나타나는 특징을 정리하면 다음과 같다. 역사의 흐름을 간략하게 이해하기 위한 연표형, 사략형 사서가 다수 편찬되었다. 유교적 도덕주의 속에서 역사를 이념적으로 이해하려는 강목과 춘추 계열의 역사서가 다수 편찬되었다. 지역의 선현, 명신을 추숭하기 위한 인물서와 함께 새롭게 성장하는 중인들의 인물서가 다수 편찬되어 사림세력과 중인세력이 치열하게 갈등하는 현장이 되었음을 보여주기도 한다. 그리고 서울에서 내려오는 길목에 해당하는 지역에서는 선진 문물에 대한 관심에서 문물과 제도를 다룬 유서의 편찬이 활발하였다. 지역적 특색에 대한 관심은 광범위한 사찬 읍지의 편찬으로 이어졌다. 이 지역에서는 임진왜란을 거치면서 정치적 이유에서나 혹은 조선 후기 정치 갈등 속에서 자신의 입장을 보여주기 위한 일기류가 광범위하게 편찬되었다. 그러나 정치적 사건을 종합적으로 다루는 정치 역사서의 편찬은 빈약하였다.
요컨대 강안 지역 역사서의 편찬에서는 理念性, 受容性, 融合性이 강하게 나타나며, 사회적 갈등으로 도덕주의와 현실주의가 첨예하게 부딪치기도 하였다.
In this thesis, in an attempt to examine the trend of historiography in the riverside(Gangan) area in the traditional era, I summarized and examined the characteristics of the Sabu compilation produced in the Gangan area. Here, the category of the riverside(Gangan) area was mainly targeted at the Sabu compilations from Sangju in the north to Uiryeong in the south.
In the middle of the Joseon Dynasty, in these areas, the Sangju Seoae School, the Sungju Hangang School, the Indong Yeoheon School, the Goryeong Songam School, and the Uryeong Mangwoodang School were competing with the Toegye School of Gyeongsang Reft Province and the Nammyung School of Gyeongsang Right Province. Here, if I summarize how the sabu history books was compiled by region, you will be able to identify the virtues left in the area of these schools.
The riverside(Gangan) area of the Nakdong River formed an academic group represented by Seoae of Sangju, Hangang of Sungju, Yeoheon of Indong, Songam of Goryeong, and Mangwoodang of Uiryeong, and the academic tendency of these schools was active in bureaucratic activities and had a free spirit in academic attitude. They showed reformism enough to be linked to practical studies(Silhak), advocated academic independence different from existing academia, and tried to build a unique academic world through this. In addition, there was a cultural lag phenomenon in the riverside area compared to the Kiho area near Seoul, which was advantageous in briefly organizing or sorting by type while accepting the culture of other areas. And even though it could not create new culture, it has achieved a good academic climate to compile various types of books that emphasize the morality of Confucianism.
Due to these academic and regional characteristics, many chronological and brief history have been compiled to briefly understand the flow of history in the field of history. On the other hand, many historical books of the Kangmok and Chunchu series were compiled to understand ideologically in Confucian morality. In the Gangan area, a number of encyclopedias of newly growing middlemen were compiled along with encyclopedias of characters to honor the local prestige and the gods. This also shows that the Gangan area has become a scene where the Sarim forces and the growing forces are fiercely conflicted. In the area corresponding to the way down from Seoul, the compilation of encyclopedias dealing with culture and institutions was active in the interest of advanced cultures. The interest in regional characteristics was compiled by the geography of the towns(Sachan eupji), which is widely compiled by the Hangang and the Yeoheon schools. In this area, diary was widely compiled to show his position for political reasons or in political conflicts in the late Joseon Dynasty. However, the compilation of political books that comprehensively deal with political events was poor.
In short, the Gangan area has strong ideological characteristics such as Ideology, rationality, acceptability through the compilation of history books. On the other hand, moralism and realism have been sharply encountered due to social conflicts.
