This study focused on Russian cabaret. This came from the recognition of the problem that it was necessary to understand the cabaret in order to fully realize Russian art culture in the late 19th - early 20th century and to properly describe the history of Russian theater in the early 20th century. To this end, this thesis first tried to explore the origin and birth of Russian cabaret and Miniature theaters from it. This study began by acknowledgment the fact that Russian cabaret originated under the influence of France and at the same time noting that its origin was in the soil of Russian culture. In this context, we tried to trace the origins of Russian cabaret: firstly, cafes, salons, and circles of Russian literature in the 19th and 20th centuries; secondly, the atmosphere of the turn of the century(“A Feast during the Plague”); thirdly, the bustling masquerade and “Kapustnik” performances of the early 20th century. European and Russian cabaret have many things in common. But in the case of European cabaret, bohemian artists located in the periphery took the lead and expanded the field of satire and artistic and popular intelligence with a focus on parody of middle-class culture. At that time Russian cabaret was a stage where representatives of the arts and culture in the center of the capital made fierce experiments to overcome the melancholy of the turn of the century with laughter and to explore new art. Also, Russian cabaret soon developed into a new form of Miniature theater. As such, this paper confirms that the cultural and artistic soil for cabaret to be born in Russia at the beginning of the 20th century has already been prepared. And through this, it was possible to examine that Russian cabaret was a succession of French tradition, but at the same time it was a succession of Russian tradition and a unique cultural product of Russia.
