Despite the claims of those who claim that Martin Luther had no idea and practice of mission, this study seeks to argue for the presence of Luther’s idea and practice of mission specifically through the perspective of Luther’s pastoral ministry. While this study does not deal with Luther’s theology of mission, through an analysis of Luther's sermons, catechisms, and hymns, this study concludes that Luther has manifested his idea and practice of mission in his pastoral ministry. Consequently, this study is of great significance in demonstrating that Martin Luther was indeed a ‘father’ rather than a ‘failure’ of mission.
