Report Errors
Due to the innovation of digital technology and social changes in COVID, digital technology is gradually intervening in museums to diversify the types of displays. In this study, in order to understand the types and characteristics of digital displays in museums, advanced examples from various countries in the last five years from 2018 to 2023 were selected for the study. A detailed characterization was conducted at three levels: technology, the form of display content, and user experience. It was found that the museums use many new technologies such as VR, AR, MR, digital devices, and equipment. The tendency of modern museum displays has shifted from direct communication of information to digital experiences based on interactions, experiences, and inputs. However, most of the digital displays are mainly visual and auditory, so it is considered necessary to develop transcription technologies based on more innovative technologies and use multiple sensory devices in the future. In addition to the technical elements of digital museums, it is believed that the future direction of digital exhibition development and technological innovation can be clearly grasped by clearly understanding visitor behavior, preferences, and access to the digital exhibition environment through visitor data and analysis technologies.
