This paper critically introduces the main points of intellectual history research methodology, especially for the researchers in Korean academic field. First, it presents a clear and concise overview of the logic and issues at the heart of linguistic contextualist intellectual history. Second, it describes a specific research model conducted by intellectual historians. In order to do so, the paper proceeds as follows. The first two chapters examine the methodological approaches to the history of ideas first introduced to Korea, namely critical discourse analysis and conceptual history. The third chapter presents the rise of the Cambridge School, the theoretical premises of linguistic contextualism, and the specific research model. Finally, the fourth chapter surveys the spread and prospects of linguistic contextualism.
