This study investigated how children’s media usage time affects their life satisfaction through body self-image, while also examining whether this relationship is influenced by children’s ego-resilience. The study included data from 1,372 children(702 boys and 670 girls) participating in the 12th wave of the Panel Study on Korean Children of Korea (2019). Descriptive statistical analysis and correlation analysis were conducted by using SPSS 26.0. Additionally, the PROCESS Macro 4.0 software was utilized to examine the moderated mediating effect of body self-image and ego-resilience. The findings revealed that children’s media usage time indirectly influenced their life satisfaction through body self-image. Furthermore, children’s body self-image served as a mediator between their media usage time and life satisfaction. Moreover. children’s ego-resilience was found to moderate the relationship between their body self-image and life satisfaction. Finally, children’s ego-resilience was seen to moderate the mediating effect of body self-image in the relationship between their media usage time and life satisfaction. These results suggest that a high level of ego-resilience in children weakens the negative effects of media usage time on life satisfaction by reducing body image concerns. The study emphasizes the importance of promoting positive self-image and ego-resilience in children to enhance their life satisfaction. Accordingly, it is crucial to develop programs that recognize and support positive self-image.
