This study focuses on the method of utilizing the archive as a strategy and tool for design and further visual culture creation and re-contextualizing it in contemporary social relationships. Archives are inherently constructed with ideological perspectives and intentions. Therefore, it is possible to deconstruct the intentions of the created archive and present new perspectives through deconstruction. To undertake this research, concepts and discourse related to archive deconstruction were examined based on discussions in Jacques Derrida's "Archive Fever: A Freudian Impression" and Hal Foster's essay "The Archival Impulse." This allowed for an exploration of the conceptual understanding and generative processes of archive deconstruction, as well as its social significance, through cases produced against the backdrop of social events in contemporary society. This study reveals several key points. Firstly, it raises questions about the objectivity of existing archives. Secondly, it highlights attempts to summon past memories and history while reinterpreting them in the context of the present. Thirdly, it identifies a series of attempts to reconstruct existing memories and history according to contemporary values. Underlying these phenomena is the advancement of media technology, digital experiences, and environmental changes, which, in promoting the production and consumption of images, subjects, and actions, further disseminated discourse on archives, leading to the emergence of the "archival impulse" that generates new images. In conclusion, in a changing society, memories of the past are not fixed, singular forms of memory but are reinterpreted according to contemporary values and changes. This research examines how social awareness that emerges in this process demands criticism and alternatives for existing consciousness, and discusses the social role and significance of visual culture in creating alternative perspectives and narratives for history.
