The purpose of this article is to explore the relationship between Shimomachi and Yamanote in his works, including Nagai Kafu's "Tanotei Nikko," which is said to have first shown the structure of Tokyo's Shitamachi vs. Yamanote.
First, although Yamate and Shitamachi are completely different towns, this is the reason why Kafu sold the main houses of Kokushimachi and Okubo Yocho-cho to stay in Tsukiji. The atmosphere of Edo remains strongly in the scenery of downtown areas such as Tsukiji and Fukagawa, but the "fumi" pursued by Kafu is deformed through cultural filters symbolizing Edo culture and is inducted or incorporated into the subjective framework of Kafu. In reality, Sadao Oishi's hospital is the closest to his doctor, Sadao Oishi, and it is convenient in terms of entertainment, food, and shopping. In terms of friendship, there were close friends, who was also practiced shamisen as a hobby.
Second, Kafu, who was born and raised in Yamanote, suddenly withdrew from the hiding place by the Tsukiji River to escape into the Yamanote. From this, we can see the coldness of individualism inherent in the draft.
