This paper examines the necessary conditions for Kafu"s ideal of opera as a type of music based on Kafu.
First, to create a national type of music unique to Germany, Wagner"s opera must have an idea of“the mysteries of the earth and the mysteries of the heavens,”just as he was able to motivate the ideals of his own nation and national spirit to “penetrate deeply into the heart,”“move the listener"s heart in some deep way,”“pierce the heart,”and“ give deep impressions that cannot be expressed.”In addition, regardless of which country"s opera is performed, it must have the same idea of the “mysteries of earth and heaven.”
Second, every country"s opera music has its own unique characteristics, and each country"s opera music has its own sensitivity to truth, goodness, and beauty.
Third, we can understand that in Japan, Kafu took advantage of the characteristics of music based on ancient legends and motivated by the ideals of Japan"s unique ethnic and national spirit to realize an ideal of opera that would appeal to the sensibilitiesof each individual for truth, goodness, and beauty.
