This is a study on the motif of death from drowning of beautiful girl of Kusamakurain the literature of SosekiNatume. We can say that there are two motives of death from drowning of beautiful girl in it. One is western motif so as Oferiaand the other is Japanese motif so as a Girl of Unai. The first is the visionary and the second is full of the resentment and spiritual. Soseki tried to describe these two characters in the same woman as if she had two spirits. The painter in this literature also tries to paint the death from drowning of Nami who behaves visionary and acts as if she were ghost. But he can not paint the face of Nami calling into question of the shortage of her sympathy. Because the sympathy is the most important element in the Japanese ancient literature. The sympathy makes person be set free from bad spirit. The Japanese literature of death from drowning of beautiful girl so as a Girl of Unaiexists to satisfy the resentment of spirit and to make spirit be set free from bad spirit or ghost.
