Senior welfare housing was introduced to enhance housing stability for low-income elderly households without homes and has been consistently supplied. The Korea government has announced plans for further expansion. Senior welfare housing integrates welfare centers to provide essential daily life support of the elderly, making it a flagship initiative. This study examines the operational status of programs in senior welfare housing, focusing on their role in supporting aging-in-place (AIP). Data were collected through an online survey with management offices and welfare center staff at nine senior welfare housing complexes where residents had lived for over a year. The findings revealed that all six program domains were supported, but only about half of the complexes actively operated programs across each domain. Programs in the ‘housing management and housing life’ domains were the most commonly available and implemented, while the care domain was the least developed. In order to support the AIP of elderly residents, the planning and operation of diverse, and detailed programs are required. Gradual changes in the programs should also consider the long-term residency of the elderly. This study provides foundational data not only for improving the program operations of existing complexes and developing effective strategies for newly established Senior Welfare Housing.
