Purpose: This research purpose to examine the effect of job calling on employee silence and moreover the mediating role of service responsibility and moderating role of regulatory focus on service company employees. In other words we show the reflected process and context of relationship between job calling and employee silence that having the theoretical, and empirical implications of service company. Research design, data, and methodology: We set the direct, mediate, moderate and moderated mediation research hypothesis. To test of hypotheis we conducted servery method. we collected questionnaires from service company in Gwangju. To overcome the common method bias, we 2nd times collected questionnaires 2 month time lags. Finally, total 253 questionnaires are used for hypothesis test. Results: Our research results are as follows: First, job calling increased service responsibility. Second, service responsibility decreased employee silence. Third, service responsibility mediated the relationship between job calling and employee silence. Fourth, promotion focus moderated the relationship between service responsibility and employee silence. The effect of service responsibility on employee silence was stronger when the promotion focus was high. Finally, mediating effect of service responsibility was moderated by promotion focus that mediating effect of service responsibility was stronger when promotion focus was high. Implications: This research provides theoretical and practical implications. Theoretical implication, based on the positive psychology theory and social exchange theory, we show that job calling are critical determinant of employee silence, and those of relationship are bridged the service responsibility. Practical implication, service company should enhance managerial practice for decrease of employee silence reflected job calling, service responsibility and promotion focus.
