A predictive current control which is insensitive to the uncertainties and the parameter variations of a permanent magnet(PM) synchronous motor is presented. The uncertainties in a PM synchronous motor include the back emf harmonics and the inexact estimation of motor parameters. The control input voltage consists of the linear part and the nonlinear part. The linear part generates the required nominal voltage and the nonlinear part compensates the variation in the required voltage from the nominal value due to the parameter variations and the uncertainties. The current errors at each sampling instants are bounded to a certain small value given by the maximum magnitudes of the uncertainties and the parameter variations.
