It is internet as a kind of cybermedia thar leads contemporary information age. By the way, because of such a cybermedium like internet, nowadays fiction is at a serious crisis. Recently cybermedia that have some special features such as non-sequence, non-causality, interactivity discourage fiction through making a cyberspace. So in the both aspects of reflection of reality and production of dream, fiction is inferior to cybermedia.
For the sake of overcoming all difficulties, fiction is changing itself into a cyberfiction in appearance. For example, first of all, fiction enlarges the area of literature by creating a cyberspace as a new world. Second, fiction has an nit-modem effect in order to promote uncertainty of character. 1bird, through the new subject matters, many new types of fiction appear. Fourth, fiction introduces many experimental story writing methods into its field and educates lots of interactive readers. And so forth.
In spite of these efforts for a change, fiction in cyberera still has many weak points and difficulties such as destruction of unity of plot and disappearance of writer's identity. In addition, sometimes fiction goes with the current of the lower-grade readers blindly. And sometimes fiction falls in a vulgar level because of obscene contents and many bad seconds. At this points, we have to think the most important thing is to recognize the reason that fiction has these demerits. I think it is competition with cybermedia that why fiction has these demerits.
In fact, fiction is destined to be defeated in the field of competition with cybermedia, because already digitalized and networked cybermedia are more mightier than fiction in speed and making cyberspace. So fiction must seek its own method to survive not in speed and making cyberspace but in other aspects. I think the best method for fiction to select is putting cognition of humanity by cybermedia in question. Cybermedia cause not only technology to change but also cognition of humanity to change. Concerning the latter, fiction especially must be concerned about legitimacy of identity of human in cybermedia. Because fiction have accomplished the work of this kind for a long time by its capacity to think and to introspect.
