This thesis deals with the relation between the literary pages of newspaper in 1930's and those who were in charge of them as writer and concurrently journalist.
Literary criticism played a major role in just argument instead of editorials and articles which became weaker under rigid press censorship of Japanese authorities at that time.
In the literary aspect, literary critiques contributed to develop and establish unique Korean novel wording and style. But from the critical point of view they were criticized in regard of plagiarism and factionalism.
Among many writer-jounalists in those days the activity of Kim Ki-rim was distinctive, who entered the Chosun-Ilbo through the company's first open entrance examination and played an important role to build up discourses in literary pages of newspaper in company with Lee Won-jo, Ahn Hoe-nam and Hong Ki-mun etc.
Approaching the end of the Japanese imperialistic rule, many essays which had good sense of Korean language appeared in literary pages. But unfortunately they tended gradually to pro-Japan and after all brought to ruin of literary pages.
