This thesis is about present statuses of studies of regionalliteratures especially on Chung-buk, DaeguㆍKyung-buk, Chun-buk regions focusing on how regional identities appeared in literary works respectively.
First, for Chung-buk region, it is on the introducing phase where how to discuss their regional literature is presented and in the course of searching for its own identity.
Second, for DaeguㆍKyung-buk region, there has been a work to examine the character of regional literature on the basis of its cultural tradition, which is scholarly or Confucianism. This approach can be discussed as one of possibilities in the study of this regional literature. However, more research is required which can show this particularity in the literary works.
Third, for Chun-buk region, there are studies of its world of literature based on the distinctiveness of the region, like characters in literature, prosaic music, the spirit of resistance. In spite of this, more studies in scope and in depth are requested.
As understanding statuses of studies of regional literatures, I have recognized the problem which should be settled firstly besides these realistic problems for the revitalization of the study of regional literature. That is the finding of the methodology of study of regional literature. This can not be found without the basis of the regional identity. Since searching how that identity is reflected in regional literary work is the initial task of study of regional literature, what should be considered in methodological aspect is confirming the regional identity inherited in each region. It also signifies that the study of regional literature should be accomplished in the dimension of research of regional study.
