The purpose of this study was to estimate a superoxide dismutase(SOD), catalase(CAT), glutathione peroxidase(GPX) and glutathione reductase(GR) activities as a antioxidants enzyme of blood and tissue(liver, heart, kidney, muscle) by acute exercise inensity(low, medium, high).
1. In the blood and muscle, SOD activity were signficantly higher in medium exercise group compared to high exercise group. And the activity of SOD in liver were significantly higher in medium exercise group compared to low exercise group.
2. In the heart, CAT activity were signficantly higher in medium exercise group compared to low and high exercise group.
3. In the liver and muscle, GPX activity were signficantly higher in medium exercise group compared to high exercise group. Also, the activity of GPX in kidney were significantly higher in high exercise group compared to low exercise group.
4. In the blood, GR activity were signficantly higher in medium exercise group compared to low and high exercise group. And the activity of GR in kidney were significantly higher in low exercise group compared to high exercise group. Also, the activity of GR in muscle were significantly higher in medium exercise group compared to high exercise group.
In conclusion, this study shows that the antioxidants enzyme of bloood and tissue were higher in medium exercise group. These findings support the view. that acute exercise of medium intensity was decresed free radical-induced damage for the beginners.
Future human's studies should be consider physical fitness level, exercise intensity(30~100% of VO₂max) and exercise type(cycling, treadmill, swimming, aerobic.....etc) for the exercise prescription of the biginners.
