Descriptions about Ancient European History in the textbooks of Socety Ⅱ for Middle Schools have some problems. At first, those are disproportionate on themes. In other words, those descriptions only deal with Greek and Roman History. Because the History of Ancient Near East is omitted, middle school students are apt to be affected by Eurocentrism. Next, those descriptions about Ancient European History have some mistakes, misunderstandings, misinterpretations.
What makes those descriptions have some problems ? I think that there are two factors. Firstly, a few pages are allotted for descriptions about Ancient European History, that is, just 9.44 pages are allotted. Therefore, these a few pages make those descriptions to be abbreviate and omit. As a result of it, the history of Ancient Near East is disappeared, and other problems arise. Secondly, all textbooks have just one or two authors about western history. And those authors are mostly teachers of middle school or high school. But those textbooks don't have any consultation by scholars. Even for easy learning, those teachers may be more proper than scholars, but the checking procedure is required for accurate descriptions.
