In order to increase pride and love on students' hometown and raise citizen who fit to the era of local government, which are sought in history chapter in social study class of the localization education, the importance of the study on local history should be increased and activated.
This study tried to understand the current status of how the study on local history is done on primary school students and how the information for the local study is gathered.
According to the rule of distributing contents on social class, the third grades studies localization on city, country and distrct areas and the fourth grades, at their first semester, studies on city and do. To support the study the textbook for the third grades on localization is made for each educational office of city, country and district, and the text for the first semester of fourth grades is made for each city and do. The contents related to local history is in the second chapter of the third grade's second semester and the first chapter of the fourth grade's first semester. Because they have to provide all the information on history, local and social aspects, they are short on local history study to raise interests and love on their hometown. Also, because of lack of studies for social class by teachers due to the burden of teaching too many classes and frequent transfer, it is difficult to do research and collect information for local history for them and so they primarily depends on localization textbooks.
To support study on local history, there should be enough objective basic data on tradition and history of local. The standard methods of accessing to data will be use of multimedia, field study, literature and human resources.
For multimedia resources, they can use homepage of local organizations or graphics, photos and video images prepared for primary school students. During free subject class, they can visit, research and do survey during field study and also can access to living personnel in the area.
By finding and studying definite examples in hometown in order to satisfy the requirements in social study class, students can learn to research, raise thinking ability, understand his hometown and raise pride cipation and supports from local organizations and self-studies by teachers, the education on local history will grow.
